“Ferruccio Sansa, Selena Candia, and Roberto Centi, regional councilors of the Sansa List, criticize the mayor of Portofino, Matteo Viacava, after being accused of selling counterfeit bags in his tobacco shop.
The regional councilors highlight that usually it is immigrants, particularly Senegalese, who sell counterfeit bags on the streets, and in these cases legal action, complaints and even deportations are taken.
However, when the mayor himself sells these bags, law enforcement authorities seem to not intervene, as reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano.
The regional councilors of the Sansa List emphasize that this situation is even more serious considering that Portofino is a symbol of luxury and many owners of famous brands spend their vacations there.
Therefore, they demand Viacava’s resignation, emphasizing that a mayor must set an example and respect the laws that he should enforce upon others.
The regional councilors conclude that the requested resignation must be sincere and not false, as often happens in Italy.”
