Loyal to their estival rendezvous, medicine the Royal Opera House BP Summer Big Screens will be back in town this summer! Live from the Royal Opera House, view a showcase of world-class opera and ballet performances will be screened at several locations nationwide, offering a perfect opportunity for music lovers to enjoy a warm summer night under (hopefully…) clear starlit skies. If the acoustics of the Main Auditorium and the comfortable velvet seats are luxuries you cannot do without, then this event is definitely not for you. But if you like the idea of the informal atmosphere, with the city buzz and lights contributing to the festive feel of the evening, then come along! Don’t forget your picnic, bring something comfortable to sit on, go early to get a good spot and, first and foremost, hope for good weather!
This year’s repertoire includes Manon (June 1st), Madama Butterfly (July 4th) and Cendrillon (July 13th), with a special hum-along treat (Humming Chorus from the second act of Madama Butterfly) at 7pm on July 4th conducted by the Royal Opera House.
